The Hockey News (updated April 11, 2006)

Big Derek take puck.

Update: To be clear, it is the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd that the game is going to take place. All other updates in bold print.

After placing a few phone calls, I have for you the current roster and equipment list for the upcoming April Classic:

Absolutes

  • Sean Woods
  • Jeremiah Pitts
  • Dylan Purcell (straight out of Lethbridge, Alberta)
  • Rob Vogt
  • Steve Assen
  • Rob Ladner
  • Derek Lafay
Conditional
  • Liam Johnstone (if he can get away from the home)
  • Brad Campbell (checking his schedule)
Unknown/Not Contacted Yet
  • Andrew Campbell (and friends?), will be contacted by Brad
  • Friends of Rob?
  • Friends of Jeremiah?
  • Other people I have overlooked
Current List of Equipment
  • two sets of goaltending pads (thanks to Brad Campbell), although one set might be of the smaller variety
  • undisclosed goaltending equipment, presumably pads & a stick (courtesy of Dylan Purcell)
  • two nets (thanks to Rob Ladner) of the smaller variety, in case the final location does not have nets on site
  • as stated in a previous post, I have extra right handed sticks for those that are without
  • giant water receptacles
Needed Equipment
  • extra hockey balls
  • possibly extra left handed sticks
  • goaltending helmets for those that want them
  • defibrillator
As far as location goes, I have Jeremiah scouting the Kinsmen park tennis court to determine if the nets are in place. If not, we can make due with the aforementioned nets of Rob's. Again, if anybody knows of a fenced-in location (or a location with boards) that would be more or less central to all parties, please let me know.

The EXACT date is yet to be decided, as certain individuals are still determining their availability.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any strokes, heart attacks or other physical ailments that take place during the game.

I need at least the weekend you are aiming for so that I can start asking people. I don't have a crew on standby. Although, if I did, that would be awsome. Sopranos, Canandian style.

A few notes:
1. I have goalie equipment I will take down with me.

2. I need at least one leftie stick for Rob Vogt.

3. Calgary is central for me.

4. Jeremiah has friends?

5. If Liam can get out of home? If Liam can get his head out of his ass, more like.

6. I will bring an extra hockey ball. Or two.

7. Will there be a Lafay fight?

Dylan, to answer your "questions..."

1. Now noted on my blog, thanks

2. We'll see what we can do.

3. Like I care.

4. Apparently.

5. I hope Liam plays.

6. Sweet.

7. Only if Liam asks if Derek is calm. If he does, Derek is likely to get up and punch Liam in the back of the head.

I went to high school with her; I haven't actually seen her in a very long time.
